The
Pan-Hellenic Delphic Games of antiquity, which celebrated the
arts, was reinstated in an eight-day festival
in Delphi, Greece, June 4-11, 2005. The historic
re-inauguration will featured live world-class performances, intensive
workshops by renowned artists and roundtable discussions on the
convergence of dance, music, drama and poetry inspired by the
venerable tradition of the Delphic Games and the rich mytho-history
of Delphi.

This event
was sponsored by the Isadora Duncan International Institute, Inc.,
the Society for the Study of
Myth and Tradition (Publisher of Parabola Magazine) and The
Town of Delphi (Mayor Panagiotis Kaltsis). Major support for this
initiative comes from the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit
Foundation.
Presenters
include renowned storyteller, author, scholar of mythology Michael
Meade, the distinguished dance performer and lecturer
Jeanne Bresciani, Ph.D., and Keynote speaker
Richard G. Geldard, Ph.D., Greek scholar and
author of The Traveler's Key to Ancient Greece, who will also
lead sessions on the power of healing in Greek Drama. The Festival
of The Delphic Games will offer attendees the unique opportunity
to participate in a historic, yet intimate, event with extraordinary
presenters on Mount Parnassus at sacred sites rarely open to the
public. Selected films from Parabola Magazine's 'Cinema of the
Spirit' series will also be shown and discussed. The workshop
intensives may be available for graduate and undergraduate credit
upon prior arrangement.
